Kendel is a well-rounded and enthusiastic designer of user centred spaces with a strong background in graphics, cultural heritage, and community partnerships. Kendel has been involved in successful projects from big to small, specializing in 2 and 3 dimensional design. She has a keen eye, always ensuring a clear hierarchy is established to create accessibility of information. She is very knowledgeable when it comes to Adobe CS software as well as a variety of 3D modeling programs including SketchUp, Vectorworks, and Rhino. The use of her diverse skills demonstrates her understanding of physical space and the impact it has on the user’s experience.

ROLE // Fabricator // Ensured a high level of quality was kept throughout the production of the display including finishing details like sanding, staining, and sealing graphics.
2013 // Royal Tyrrell Museum // Airport Carousel // Calgary, AB
ROLE // Lead Designer // Liaison between the management and marketing departments, creating a solution that got everyone excited. Developed an interchangeable banner system that allowed the messaging switch out seasonally with minimal cost.
2013 // Royal Tyrrell Museum // Dinosaur Hall Addition // Drumheller, AB
ROLE // Senior Designer // Designed displays to showcase a variety of specimen ranging in size from 1” to 10’. The display cases were an addition to an existing gallery and added another layer of story and interaction for the visitor. Ensured design was cohesive with the existing story and space.

ROLE // Lead Designer // Responsible for giving the tired Devonian Reef exhibit a new life. Worked with a very small budget to create a fresh looking space, while still acknowledging existing infrastructure.

ROLE // Lead Designer // Developed a new graphic system each year to promote the Contest. Carried the graphic theme over to the 3 dimensional world and used it to create the exhibit, including text panels and custom designed display cases for the artwork.
2012 // Royal Tyrrell Museum Interactive Photo Booth // Canada’s West Marketplace // Banff, AB
ROLE // Lead Designer // In partnership with the Calgary Stampede and Banff Photography, created an interactive photo booth. Designed a custom backdrop to be projected onto a green screen as well as produced a durable raptor prop to be a part of the scene.
